Diptych: View of the Blue Mountains, late May, en plein air

and

View of the Blue Mountains, early June, en plein air

$100.00 each, $175 for diptych

15.5x11.5” and 10x11”

View from the studio window, looking west to the Blue Mountains. Bright late spring green and gauzy clouds floating over mountains framing the woods and fields seen all along the escarpment in Clearview Township.

Both are painted on a piece reclaimed from a local cottage that was demolished. Late May takes advantage of the smooth side to create a soft sky whereas Early June uses the rough side for interest and texture. Using reclaimed wood adds history and context to the farm that has been here for at least a century, the cottage at least 50 years and the ancient Mountains looking out over both.
