Manor Garden

Watercolour on paper

There is something about the formal garden; the stone and the evergreens playing off each other in shadow and shape, and light passing through, reflected, absorbed.

Many keep the extremely clipped, shaped, subjugation-of-nature approach which was rampant in the beginning of the Industrial overhaul of the world. Some however are allowing room for nature to take its course, a softening of the grip, an allowance for serendipity, meadowing. A lovely contrast, a different perspective.
